Allen Community College Track and Field traveled to Fayetteville, AR this past weekend to compete in the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas. In a meet full of Division 1 programs, Allen CC found its way to placing multiple athletes into the spotlight.
Sophomore Ra'Nayla Moten dominated in the Women's 60M prelims finishing with a qualifying time of 7.35. Moten's time in the 60M was a personal best, which claimed her 7th place in prelims and 8th place overall finishing under D1 athletes from LSU, TCU, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas. Sophomore Grace Nwokocha finished with a time of 7.53 in the 60M prelims for a 35th place finish.
Moten showed out once again in the Women's 200M claiming a time of 23.53, which was another season's best for RaNayla, adding a 14th place finish for the day out of more than 50 runners in the event.
Moten has now etched her way into the ACC record book yet again as she now holds two school records in the 60M and 200M. With the time of 7.35 this weekend, Moten has beaten her own record of 7.42. Moten also now holds the school record in the 200M with this weekend's performance of 23.53.
Freshman Maurice Connor finished 15th in 60M men's prelims with a time of 6.75. While two other ACC athletes also finished in the top 30 as freshman Ali Dargan ran a 6.81 to claim the No. 24 spot, and sophomore Nate Jones finished with a 6.82 to claim 27th.
Dargan also competed in the men's 200M finishing in 18th with a personal best of 21.13. Freshman Timothy Pinard finished the 60M hurdles with a time of 8.29 to take home a 37th place finish.
Allen track and field will return to action this weekend when they compete in the Region 6 Jayhawk East Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, KS on Feb. 21-22. Events for the championships are set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
